Autonomous lighting poles

The application of solar units for street lighting is becoming more and more popular both in Ukraine and abroad. Proper urban and rural lighting is important not only for densely populated areas with developed energy infrastructure but also for the zones where access to centralized powerlines demands a lot of effort and funding. Not only streets but also remote parking lots, agricultural machinery storage premises, dangerous stretches of highways, and recreational zones need adequate lighting.

The introduction of solar panels helps reduce energy consumption and provides electricity and light to territories lacking centralized power supplies. Installation of autonomous lighting systems can significantly reduce construction expenditures on power cables, electrical substation setup, power accounting units, and obtaining permissions from the authorities.

Solar panels for street lighting work on the principle of transformation of sunlight into electrical energy with the help of photoelements. The energy obtained in the course of such processes is then transferred to battery units that store it for later use. The battery powers a lamp, usually a LED fixture, that provides night lighting. The lamp and the battery charge are controlled via a controller.

This lighting method is not only energy-efficient but also environmentally friendly. It does not produce any harmful waste and does not use fossil fuels to produce energy. This is a great alternative for regions that have enough sunlight.

The solar lighting system enjoys long service life and is not demanding in terms of maintenance. Should it be necessary, its elements are easy to replace; however, they usually serve their purpose for a long time without a need for replacement or repair.

Solar street lighting units have a lot of advantages:

  • No need to pay electricity bills;
  • Possibility to provide lighting in the areas lacking access to centralized power lines;
  • Fast and easy installation of lighting systems;
  • Total safety and sustainability during the operation and disposal;
  • Long service life;
  • Automated operation mode.

Solar-powered lamps are used to light pedestrian zones, street crossings, and public transport stops. A typical system includes:

  • A photovoltaic panel that transforms sunlight into electricity;
  • A vandal-proof post containing a controller and battery;
  • A battery to accumulate and store electricity;
  • A controller to operate the lamp and control the battery charge level;
  • A lighting fixture with a LED lamp or panel.

These lighting systems are meant to work at night under various weather conditions, including strong winds and freezing. The lighting poles are manufactured in a way that ensures easy installation, maintenance, repair, and parts replacement. The construction provides quick access to all the components that may need tuning or replacement during operation. The system is designed to work under temperatures from +40°C to -40°C.
